Ebenezer William “Bill” Peyto arrived in Banff February 1887. He was a pioneer, mountain guide, and early park warden of the Banff National Park from 1913 until his retirement in 1936. Walter Wilcox wrote of Bill Peyto, “Bill is very quiet in civilization, but becomes more communicative around an evening campfire when he delights to tell his adventures.
